When I first met my boyfriend two years ago, he was already a HUGE Caps fan. I had been to just a handful games…and he was a former season ticket holder.

We were supposed to go to a Caps game on our third date. I got really sick…so he ended up going to the game with another friend of his. A couple of weeks later, I ended up getting tickets to another game…but he was already going with a buddy. I invited a girlfriend to come with me and we all planned to get together for drinks after the game.

My two tickets were in section 115…just a few rows back from the ice. My boyfriend’s seats were section 409…several rows up. As soon as I sat down, I sent my boyfriend a text message offering to switch seats with him and his buddy (my girlfriend didn’t mind making the sacrifice since they were MY tickets to begin with). I wanted him to get "better" seats because I knew what a big fan he was.

Well…to my surprise, he said "no thanks." At the time, I thought he was just being polite. Now (two years later)…I know it had NOTHING to do with politeness. You see…it turns out my boyfriend is VERY PICKY about where he sits to watch his Caps play.

First of all…he doesn’t like sitting down low. The further away from the plexi-glass, the better. He says he wants to see ALL the action…and if he’s sitting too close to the glass…he can’t see the ENTIRE ice. So…he’d rather sit up in the 400s than lower in the 100s.

The pickiness doesn’t end there. My boyfriend also has to sit on the side of the arena where the CAPS SHOOT TWICE. He has actually turned down seats because of this preference. Yes…that means we can only go to the Acela Club during the second period.

I have teased him about his "seat rules" countless times over the past two seasons…but I can’t get him to budge. Luckily, he and I are sharing season tickets with a group of friends in section 203. They are PERFECT seats…not too low…not too high. They are also located along the goal line on the side the Caps shoot twice. Goldilocks is happy.

I’m curious though. Is my boyfriend ALONE when it comes to seat preference at Caps games? Do you or someone you know have similar "seat rules?" I’d love to hear about them. Share below!
